Sometimes it’s difficult to talk about issues that are troubling you, even with the friends, family and people in whom you normally confide. Counselling offers support and a quiet, private time to talk and think things through. It is not about the counsellor telling you what to do or bringing in their own preconceived ideas, It's about really listening and not making judgements. A safe space allows you to express how you feel, examine things that are worrying you or causing distress so that you can gain insights and find a way forward.
Counselling can help you feel more resourceful, calm and confident so you are able to find clarity and purpose and decide on what is best for you. It can also be a place to discuss, try out and gain benefit from strategies and tools to help you cope and make changes to the way you react. Common issues that bring people down include low mood or depression, feeling misunderstood, anxiety, relationship difficulties, negative experiences, past trauma, family issues, loss and bereavement, stress, low self-esteem, confusing thoughts and feelings or worries about the future.
